Isra and Mi'raj (الإسراء والمعراج) , Lailatul Miraj ( Journey to Heaven)

The Isra and Mi'raj ( الإسراء والمعراج), are the two parts of a Night Journey to heaven that, the last Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam took during a single night around the year 621. During the month of Rajab, the Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam made a night -time trip to the city of Jerusalem (isra’), visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and from there was raised up into heaven (mi’raj). It is a physical and spiritual journey. A brief sketch of the story is in sura (chapter) 17 Al-Isra of the Qur'an, and other details come from the Hadith, supplemental writings about the life of Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam. In the journey, Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam travels on the steed Buraq to "the farthest mosque" where he leads other prophets in prayer. He then ascends to heaven where he speaks to Allah(One and Only God), who gives Muhammad instructions to take back to the faithful regarding the details of prayer. According to traditions, the Journey is associated with the Lailat al Miraj, as one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar.
Incident:
The Isra begins with Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam praying in the Kaaba in Mecca, when the archangel Jibral (Gabriel) comes to him, and brings him the steed Buraq, the traditional heavenly steed of the prophets. Buraq carries Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam to the Masjid Al Aqsa the "Farthest Mosque", which some Muslims believe is the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam alights, tethers Buraq to the Western Wall and leads other prophets including Adam alaihiwasallam (Adam), Musa alaihiwasallam (Moses), and `Īsā alaihiwasallam (Jesus) in prayer. In the second part of the journey, the Mi'raj (an Arabic word that literally means “ladder”), Buraq takes him to the heavens, where he tours the seven circles of heaven, and speaks with the earlier prophets such as Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist, and Jesus. Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam is then taken to Sidrat al-Muntaha – a holy tree in the seventh heaven that Gabriel is not allowed to pass. According to Islamic tradition, Allah instructs Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam that Muslims must pray fifty times per day; however, Moses tells Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam that it is very difficult for the people and urges Prophet Muhammad Sallallāhu alaihi wa sallam to ask for a reduction, until finally it is reduced to five times per day. They named as Fazr, Zuhr, Asr, Magrib and Isha.
